DR AMITA SEGHAL
Introduction
Dr Amita Sehgal is a couple psychoanalytic psychotherapist accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council through the Tavistock Institute of Medical Psychology. She works as a Visiting Lecturer at Tavistock Relationships, and maintains a private practice in Central London.
QUALIFICATION & SKILLS
Amita holds a Ph.D. in Genetic Engineering from the University of Leeds, England. Prior to embarking upon a career in adult mental health, she held postdoctoral fellowships in immunological research at the Institute of Child Health, the primary medical research partner of the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, and also at St Mary’s Hospital in London.
Amita’s ongoing interest in the psychological processes of separation and divorce fuels her commitment to resolving family disputes out of Court. Consequently, she has vast experience of working closely with practitioners of the family justice system to provide therapeutic services to separating and divorcing couples.
Amita also runs training workshops in which clinicians as well as family law practitioners can learn about relational dynamics and enhance their skills in working with couples.
As an organisational consultant, she offers ‘emotional health-checks’ which focus upon enhancing the work environment by optimising staff efficiency, productivity and morale.
