Ruth’s development to a parenting co-ordinator she describes as having been “organic“ (Happening or developing naturally over time without being forced or planned by anyone). 

 

That is not to say it happened by chance, more by opportunities being presented to her to develop her knowledge and skill base to support families. 

 

In her early career she worked in financial services in London before taking a career break to raise her children, alongside this she opened up and ran a retail shop selling children’s clothing and maternity wear. Speaking with her customers daily led her to undertake training in counselling, coaching and therapeutic techniques to help people facing challenges move forward. This led to her working within corporations offering employee assistance programmes, delivering workshops, and working with individuals and teams on effective communication, stress management, anger management, personal development and adapting and managing change. All elements that underpin her day-to-day work in her mediation and parental coordinator practice. Ruth has been working with families since 2008 therapeutically and in family mediation. Having trained in civil mediation in 2011 and family mediation in 2013 she also works as an independent FMC accredited mediator and is qualified in direct child consultation. 

 

Having worked offering support, education, coaching and mediation for over 25 years now, Ruth has a broad understanding of the issues that families can face and views the parenting co-ordinator role as a cohesive alternative to the court arena, empowering the participants to adapt to and manage change. Assisting families to utilise resources to create solid foundations for parenting plans and child arrangements with short term and long-term goals and ambitions. 

 

She is passionate and committed to facilitating families to achieve the best outcomes for the adults and the children alike in the family arena . 

 

She has a particular interest in domestic abuse and safeguarding for all.
