Course Summary
An opportunity to draw our own family tree (genogram) and reflect on family scripts and communication patterns as a tool in our work with clients.
This one day experiential course aims to offer lawyers / mediators a space to reflect on how our own family history and patterns can sometimes inform our work with clients. Participants will draw their own genogram (family tree) and track communication patterns in their family. We will reflect on different types of family scripts and how these fit within our own family constructs. There will be recursive space throughout the day for sharing content and reflecting on how using this visual and powerful process might inform our work with clients.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how their own family scripts and ways of communicating position them around what “doing family” is.
Participants will learn how to use a visual tool (genogram) to explore difficult or stuck patterns with clients.
By the end of the course you will be able to
Participants will be able to start to explore difficult or stuck patterns with clients using a visual tool (genogram) and invite them to consider options for the future within a construct of the client’s own preferred family script/s.
Some additional points to note...
Participants will be expected to share some of their family tree with at least one other participant in the workshop.
